In this post, we highlight Odra, one of the women participating in our training program in Guatemala City. "Odra joining this cooperative is the first time she will have access to stable work and stable income in her life. At our training program graduation, Odra said that she never thought that sewing would be something that she could do. And, as she struggled each day to learn and improve, she kept thinking that we were going to give up on her. She kept thinking that she couldn’t do it. But with the encouragement of the other women, the sewing instructor and our teachers, she gradually improved."

Our Artistans Thrive Training Program has been heating up as the women gain confidence both in the sewing room as well as the classroom! As we reflect on the past two months, we have a lot to be thankful for. Weekly, we have seen our women progress professionally with their sewing skills, business acumen, and personally in their lives.

Tucked away in the heart of Guatemala City, Guatemala, lies the community of La Verbana. Here we have just began our second Artisans Thrive Training Program in partnership with World Orphans. On Friday afternoon, while everyone else is winding down for the week, you can find 15 women who have set aside their other responsibilities, left their children in someone else’s care, headed to the classroom, and who sit ready and willing to learn.
